4. The Way Way Back – A feel good coming of age story centred around an introverted and awkward teenager faced with a summer he doesn’t want. James plays the central role and you really root for him, the cast supporting his journey add to the summer vibe mix and Carell plays the despicable d-bag well, a nice change from his usual roles. Rockwell is the main comedic element and becomes a hero to the lead. It’s an often sunny film with scattered downpours of emotional worries that create an engaging film. A firm favourite film of mine from now on. A soaring gem, see it if you haven’t.
